In a Japanese robotics lab at Waseda University, Tokyo, Shuji Hashimoto has created a chemical gel that can walk like an inchworm.

“Shingo Maeda and colleagues made the colour-changing, motile gel by combining polymers that change in size depending on their chemical environment. This is based on an oscillating chemical reaction called the Belousov–Zhabotinsky (BZ) reaction. The result is an autonomous material that moves without electronic stimulation.”

Presumably kid-sized, though the more conservative part of me feels some major reservation about shoveling a kid into the representative innards of a freshly slain hypothetical beast. Call me crazy, but i dont want to be there the moment the implications of where that kid has been sleeping dawn on them.
